Hire Heroes USA exists to empower U.S. military members, veterans and their spouses to succeed in the civilian workforce. In 2019, Hire Heroes helped 10,607 clients secure meaningful employment. Still, one of the largest takeaways of studying employment trends within our client population was that military spouses lag behind in finding professional success (the realities of which our Serving Spouses team is intimately familiar with). Nearly 60% of military spouses have a four-year degree or higher, yet 70.64% of all military spouse job seekers were underemployed or unemployed. To better serve this portion of the military community, Hire Heroes launched the Serving Spouses Program in 2018. Within the program, military spouses work one-on-one with a Transition Specialist who understands the unique challenges spouses face in their job search, like communicating gaps in employment and understanding transferable skills. From resume writing to coaching in job search best practices and mock interviewing – Hire Heroes seeks to empower individuals to lead a successful job search and thrive in their civilian careers. Transition Specialists walk alongside each and every client until he or she secures employment or decides they no longer need support. Beyond the individualized coaching, Hire Heroes offers a variety of virtual workshops and career fairs to help you reach your professional goals. And Hire Heroes’ services are completely free and lifelong: if a move brings new professional challenges, your Transition Specialist is only a phone call away.
