Finding Yourself Again While Building a New Village
When I moved to the United States in 2020, I was beginning another chapter of a journey that had already taken me far from home.
I was born and raised in Venezuela, but in 2014 I moved to Panama in search of new opportunities and experiences. Years later, after meeting my husband, a U.S. Army soldier, I moved to the United States and began building a new life once again.
Starting over in a new country is never easy. Add military life, marriage, and eventually motherhood, and there were moments when I felt like I was constantly learning how to begin again.
Like many military spouses, I quickly learned that military life comes with change. New places, new routines, and often having to rebuild your support system from scratch.
As I became a mother, those challenges felt even bigger. I was raising my children away from much of my family, creating a new community, and trying to figure out who I was in the middle of so many life transitions.
If you’re a military spouse, you probably know that feeling. Every move, every deployment, every new season can feel like you’re starting over again.
What I didn’t realize at the time was that finding my place wasn’t about having everything figured out. It was about finding community and learning how to reconnect with myself along the way.
Motherhood Changed Me in Ways I Didn’t Expect
When I became a mom, my world naturally shifted toward caring for my children. My days became filled with diapers, schedules, appointments, meals, and making sure everyone else was okay.
And while I loved being a mother, I slowly realized something many women experience: I had become so focused on taking care of everyone else that I stopped checking in with myself.
For many military spouses, that feeling can be even stronger because we’re often building our support systems from the ground up in new places.
Why Community Matters More Than We Think
One of the biggest lessons military life has taught me is that we are not meant to do this alone.
As military spouses, we often leave behind family, childhood friends, and familiar routines. We arrive in new communities where we know no one and are expected to start over again. That can feel lonely.
But I’ve learned that some of the most meaningful friendships are built when we take the first step and put ourselves out there.
Whether it’s attending a local event, joining a mom group, introducing yourself to another parent at the playground, or simply sending a message to someone you’ve been wanting to connect with, small actions can lead to life-changing relationships. Finding your village doesn’t happen overnight, but it does happen.
Finding Yourself Again Doesn’t Mean Leaving Motherhood Behind
Finding yourself again isn’t about escaping motherhood. It’s about remembering that you are a whole person outside of your roles and responsibilities.
The version of you that existed before motherhood still matters. And the version of you that is growing through motherhood deserves attention too.
What is Mommee Bee?

More than a business, Mommee Bee is built on the belief that mothers shouldn’t have to lose themselves in motherhood. We believe women deserve support, community, and reminders that their dreams, well-being, and identity still matter.
Our Mission
Our mission is to help mothers feel seen, supported, and connected.

A Final Encouragement
If you’re in a season where you feel isolated, overwhelmed, or unsure of who you are right now, know that you’re not alone.
Military life and motherhood both ask a lot from us. But they also give us opportunities to grow, build meaningful relationships, and discover strengths we never knew we had.
Start small. Say yes to the coffee meetup. Attend the local event. Send the text. Introduce yourself.
Your village may be closer than you think. And somewhere along the way, you might just find yourself again, too.
