I’m trying something brand new this Christmas season and spent the entire last weekend mixing up dough for a bunch of my favorite cookies to freeze! This way, I’ll have all of my mixing done and can just pull out however many cookies I want to bake at a time to make treat trays for friends, family and neighbors (not to mention when the mood strikes I have some emergency cookie dough stashed to bake up to curb my sweet tooth).

Here are some of my holiday favorites, the only recipe I won’t be sharing is a top secret family recipe for cutout cookies. If you have some holiday goodies you don’t see here, comment and share your recipe so we can include them all on this thread as a go-to for our baking WAFs out there 🙂

Christmas Crinkle Cookies

INGREDIENTS
  • 1 cup – natural, unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 1/2 cup – sugar
  • 1/2 cup – vegetable oil
  • 4 – eggs
  • 2 teaspoons – pure vanilla
  • 2 cups – flour
  • 2 teaspoons – baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon – salt
  • 1 cup – powdered sugar
DIRECTIONS

Beat together cocoa powder, sugar and vegetable oil. Add eggs in one at a time. Add in vanilla. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder and salt. Add dry ingredient mixture to cocoa batter. Cover and chill for 4 hours (or overnight). Roll dough into balls, roll in powdered sugar and bake at 350* for 10-12 minutes.

Peanut Butter Blossoms

INGREDIENTS
  • 1 cup – shortening
  • 1 cup – peanut butter (we’re a Jif family, but if you prefer Skippy you can use that)
  • 1 cup – packed brown sugar
  • 1 cup – white sugar
  • 2 – eggs
  • 1/4 cup – milk
  • 2 teaspoons – pure vanilla
  • 3 1/2 cups – flour 
  • 2 teaspoons – baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon – salt
  • 1/2 cup – white sugar (for decorating)
  • 2 – 9 ounce bags of Hersey kisses
DIRECTIONS

Preheat oven to 350* and grease cookie sheets. Cream together shortening, peanut butter, brown sugar, and white sugar until smooth. Beat in eggs one at a time and stir in milk and vanilla. Combine flour, baking soda, and salt separately then add to peanut butter mixture. Roll into dough balls and roll into white sugar. Bake 10-12 minutes, remove from oven and press with kiss.

Confetti Cake Batter Cookies

INGREDIENTS
  • 1 box (18.25oz) – vanilla/white cake mix
  • 1 teaspoon – baking powder
  • 2 – eggs
  • 1/2 cup – vegetable oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon – pure vanilla
  • 1 cup – sprinkles (I used green/red for Christmas, but have also made these with red/blue for the 4th of July!)
DIRECTIONS

Preheat oven to 350*. In large bowl mix cake mix and baking powder, set aside. In smaller bowl, mix together eggs, oil and vanilla. Add egg mixture to cake mixture. Gently mix in sprinkles. Form 1 inch round dough balls and bake 9 minutes.
