We will be the first to say, we LOVE a chance to spoil our husbands, and while they are on deployment seems like one of the best excuses to do just that. But we are also vibing that we live in a day and age where people are waking up to how important it is to acknowledge the mental and emotional toll that the spouses back at home feel and how crucial it is to support them during times of stress (such as deployments!!!) And as a team, it is valuable for the service member to lead the force on this effort and look at the ways below to show their significant other that they are there for them…even when they are not.

Massage

Hitting you with the obvious first but wait, because, for those of you who are parents, you may be thinking, okay nice but…childcare? So going above and beyond with making it an EVENT where the servicemember lines up childcare (check out THIS free resource available to find a sitter) as well because we all know ourselves and the likelihood of us becoming overwhelmed with the idea of coordinating all of that sounds too much and maybe we should wait for our spouse to get home to do it…not here, honey!

Meals For You / The Kids

Just being honest here, but it’s either this or by day 3, we will all be living on Annie’s Mac n Cheese and takeout…not a threat, but feeding yourself or yourself plus kids is just, A LOT sometimes! So whether that’s a meal delivery service for a month, or if you have advance notice on the deployment, prepping freezer meals. Any support in this area is such a blessing! We personally love THIS option for meal planning (the shopping list loads right to your local grocer for easy grocery pick-up). THIS is a great option for healthy freezer meals that your littles will love and you can get 50% off your first order with code SWEETDEAL50!

A Spa Like Haircare Line

Romanticizing the little things is really THAT much more critical over deployment and where is a better place to do that than in the shower? Not only does THIS line of haircare last forever but it also smells delicious and makes your hair feel even better than that post-salon feel. But back to the scent, because who knew prickly pear was the scent we have been missing this whole time – it’s the epitome of luxury and we are obsessed.

Bamboo Pajamas

Continuing our luxury vibe, you have not felt anything like it until you have slipped *literally* into some bamboo pajamas like THESE. So you sleep in an old t-shirt while your significant other is home? The long nights alone will be instantly elevated with these buttery soft jammies. We felt like we were floating on an actual cloud when we first tried ours! Use our code “WAF40” for 40% off!

Housekeeper

Monotonous conversations with your servicemember, monotonous long evenings, and of course, monotonous cleaning. We are all about gifting really practical gifts and what is more practical than hiring a housekeeper? It can be a treat for both of you even if you have a cleaning in the middle and a cleaning the day before your service member returns so that you have just one last thing to worry about! We love THIS app to help hunt down someone local, trustworthy, and in your budget!

Babysitter For a Night

Cannot be offered enough. Just saying! Maybe it’s just one night over the course of the deployment, or every other week or even every week! Just something to give the parent at home a break and everyone a break from the same old same old. Even if you use that time to just sit in a parking lot for a bit of quiet time – it’s worth it! Be sure to read THIS post on questions to ask a potential sitter and a free resource available to military families to secure a trustworthy sitter.

Letters To Open Up While Your Servicemember Is Away

Could they just text you something sweet? Maybe, but it just hits differently when it’s pre-meditated like this! It’s the forward-thinking that counts and especially so when communication can be difficult to master with time changes, service issues, all the things. MAJOR TIP, for the servicemember reading this if you want to do a letter a week…WRITE EXTRA LETTERS. Not trying to put too much pressure on this, but being delayed on deployment will be so much harder if it also means no more letters, lol. Anyway, happy writing!!
